New beginning
You may be wondering where the music went? This site was vandalized by someone who exploited a vulnerability in an open source application I had installed. They did not do much damage, all they could do was delete files the web server had write access to. Everything was backed up, however its the principal of everything. I spent countless hours programming Loki, and money on server upgrades so friends could share terabytes of music and movies for free, and this is what I get in return. And this was not an isolated incident, there are daily hack in attempts, and daily relentless hammers from persistent bots. I put a lot into this site, and got nothing out of it but grief and a thinner wallet.
Hindsight is 20/20, the only mistake I made was making the multimedia public. I do not have the time to maintain it.

Shiiit you serious? This fucking sucks.

Sorry about the attacks on your webserver. I did not think it would cause you to remove the website from existence altogether. I found the hole by going through the countless opensource files that were readable on your webserver, thats when I spotted the /”demo/” directory. I had never exploited this script before and new nothing of it. This just goes to show how a little security flaw can let even the lowest level people into your shit.

so does this mean no more music for those of us who didnt try to hack?

I sympathize with your problems with the music site. It sucks that so many people have nothing better to do with their time then screw with people who give selflessly of theirs. I have to say I’ll miss the site, a lot. It was one of my main sources for music! Maybe there’s people out there, like me, that would gladly cough up some coin to maintain it….

I really hope some good can come of this.. i really liked the idea, and used your website every now and then. it’s a terrible shame something like this could happen. some people just don’t understand consequences or actions. oh well, i just hope that at some point maybe the site could be restored. until then…

I am not sure what happend to your music.but I guess your database has a problem or yout rights on therserver are not correct. but I guess the music is not lost, you only cant see them.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your site and I was surprised when I just came on here and the music was gone.
I used to really enjoy your site especially back in my college days so I could listen to music.
I loved the work you did with Loki it was a very nice system and very user-friendly and I was just wondering, would you be willing to let me have a copy of Loki for use on my own private website? (it would be protected by .htaccess passwords and just for my own use so security wouldn’t be much of a concern for me).
I used to use Ampache a lot and that’s how I found out about your site when I saw your link on the Ampache forums but I find that it doesn’t really suit my needs but Loki was a lot nicer to use.
Let me know either way what you think robert[at]robweb[dot]info or if you want to discuss it.
Thanks.
Rob.

hackwood, the xmlrpc directory was not backed up, so I lost those scripts. Its only about 4 hours of work to re-write them, however I dont have time and I really hate writing stuff twice so it probably wont happen. You deleted roughly 30 scripts in different directories. Its one thing to de-face to show you were there, quite another to delete every significant php script you could find. I also have to re-integrate my custom ID3 parser. The ironic part was, I wasnt even using the opensource application you exploited, I had written my own id3 reader in c++ months prior for speed purposes.
I uploaded loki to the new web server, however I disabled downloading for everyone but myself.

that really sucks, it’s a pity that hackwood was such a moron to do such a stupid thing.
how could anyone possibly be “sorry” for something like that. hard work for the benefit of others, gone to waste.

Hackwood,
“a little security flaw can let even the lowest level people into your shit.”
…lowest level indeed.

R.I.P Null 3d… It became my one and only place to share and load music.
Better fortune to you next time Blake.
March 17th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Whats up Blake. Sorry to see this happen to you and the many people it has effected. Let me know if you need anything.
March 18th, 2008 at 2:54 am
So be it.
Blake, friend, I enjoyed your site and the work it displayed.
I’ll deeply miss it.
Reading trough comments is easy to tell how much your site was admired and loved and, speaking in favor of their interest, I’ll cite Virgil: “Non ignaro mali, miseris sucurrere disco.”-not ignoring evil (myself), I learn(ed) to help (those who are) miserable- Poor translation; hope is clear enough.
Some other users (miseris) arround expect your kindness to bring up this site again, not myself, since I belive in the oldsay: For you to hurt me once your deed is; for you to hurt me again my fault will be.
Even so, the pain of giving your work and your time, wich is your life, to vanity thus, in vain, is the worst condemnation for someone as industrious as you.
In sum, don’t resurrect the fallen, but bring up new life, brigther life, from the ashes. I know it’s inevitable that a new Null3d will be born, maybe not yours alone, maybe not only one.
*** The website is dead. Long live the website.

Wow, I really loved your site, and I’m sure all the users, including myself, would be willing and able to do anything we can to help you prevent attacks in the future and help bring your site back…
Either way, just so you know we really appreciate all the time and effort you put into the project and for this, I would like to say Thank You
